The Journey of Reading

I always remember reading with my mom as a kid. One of the first books I recall reading with her was Anne Of Green Gables. I would brush my teeth, put on pajamas, and jump in bed. Other books we read were the Harry Potter series. These books were the turning point for me that sparked my desire for reading. I happily read the first two with my mom, but then I came to the conclusion that a chapter or two a night wasn't enough. I longed for the mysterious tunnels and new spells that came along Harry and all of these new friends. I informed my mom that I was too old to read with her anymore, shut my door, and spent hours under the covers with a flashlight in the world of Hogwarts. My mom has since informed me that when I stopped reading with her it broke her heart. It was the sign of me growing up and no longer needing my mother for every step of my journey.

  1. As one gets older, they tend to have the desire to do things on their own, and not need their parental figures anymore. As I'm sure that you had a lot of fun reading with your mom, the experience also brought about a change in which you wanted to read by yourself. This positive response is an outcome of your mom always reading with you.

  2. Harry Potter seems to be the book that made you spread your wings and fly away from the mama bird. It is neccessary for children to realize that they are truly alnoe in this world and no one will help them. Ever. Have a beautiful time
